![]() The premise is simple, the city you start out in has abandoned its bus system, and you and your colleagues are taking over to both bring it back to prominence, and to show the city’s bigwigs that it’s needed. Bus Simulator 18 is surprisingly fun and in-depth, with just the right amount of nonsense thrown in. ![]() It shot to the top of Steam’s sale charts when it came out earlier this month, and having played it this past week, I can see why. ARK: Survival EvolvedĪnd it’s pretty damned great, too. Why is this fun? Why am I sitting here, five hours into what I thought would be a “first impressions” play session, still tweaking the looks of my busses, assigning drivers, tweaking routes, cleaning my bus from the rude people who leave coffee cups behind, and generally having a pleasant, low-stress, but highly rewarding gaming experience? This is a game about owning and operating a bus depot in fictional cities. You can get out of your seat at stops and asked to see people’s tickets but I haven’t noticed any way to discern if someone hasn’t paid for a ticket as they are hopping on the bus so, unless I’m missing something, it’s pretty hit and miss as to whether you are going to find a fare evader… doing so does net you a bit of extra money by way of a fine so it can be worth it. But not all passengers are nice… some will leave litter on your bus and others will try and ride without a valid ticket. There are some passengers in wheelchairs for whom you will need to lower the ramp to enable them to enter and exit the bus which is a nice little touch of inclusivity. In addition to driving the bus, players must also manage the passengers onboard, making sure they get on and off at the right stops and dealing with any issues that may arise.īeing full of passengers rather than cargo also gives the game a chance to have some banter between commuters and though it does get repetitive there are some “dad joke” style laughs to be had with some of the conversations.

Ripple factor Series Inductor Filter | Power supply filtersįigure 5 gives the circuit of a full-wave rectifier with a series inductor filter. Sinusoidal voltage applied to each diode has amplitude V m = 20 volts and frequency of 50 Hz. Since both the diodes conduct, the period of nonconducting has reduced and as a result, ripple voltage V R has reduced and V dc has increased relative to half-wave rectifier.Īpproximate analysis of full wave rectifier with capacitor filter yields the following results:Įquation (12) shows that the voltage regulation in this case is better than that in full wave rectifier.Įxample 2: A full rectifier uses load resistor R L = 10 k-ohm and filter shunt capacitor C = 20 uF. Figure 3 shows the approximate nature of the waveform of rectifier voltage and the output voltage v o (or VC across C). In the full-wave rectifier, capacitance C discharges twice during one full cycle. Ripple factor Full-wave Rectifier with Capacitor Filter | Power supply filters Applied sinusoidal voltage has amplitude V m = 24 volts and a frequency of 50 Hz. The no-load voltage theoretically equals the peak voltage V m Disadvantages of Capacitor FilterĮxample 1: A half-wave rectifier uses load resistor R L = 8 k-ohm and filter shunt capacitor C =10uF. Merits of capacitor filterĪt light loads, the capacitor filter has merit of PIV Rating using capacitor filter, the PIV rating needed for the diode is 2V m. ![]() Substituting the value of V R from equation (4) into equation (7) we get, Taking the time axis along the V dc curve, it can be shown that for this triangular wave, the RMS value of the a.c. The RMS valuer of the ripple component of an almost triangular wave is independent of the slope or the length of the almost straight-line AB and BC but depends only on the peak value V R. Ripple Factor | half-wave rectifier with capacitor filter Thus assuming, where f is the supply frequency, we get,įrom equation 4 we conclude that the ripple voltage V R varies directly with the load current I dc and inversely with the capacitance C is chosen to be very large, typically tens of microfarad, using electrolytic capacitors. Thus,Īs the value of C is increased, filter action improves, period of conduction T 1 decreases and period of nonconducting T 2 increases approaching the full period time. ![]() Hence the change V R in capacitor voltage equal I dc T2/C. Then capacitor C while discharging at constant rate I dc losses charge amounting to I dcT 2. Let T 2 represent the total period of nonconducting. The corresponding equation for current is, Where V R represent the ripple component of output voltage. value of v o is almost midway between the peak value V m and the minimum value given by points A and B respectively. The total change in v o is V R as shown in figure 2. The dc component of output voltage has increased considerably. Thus, the diode acts as a switch permitting the flow of charge into the capacitor C when the input voltage exceeds the capacitor voltage v c and subsequently disconnects the power source when v i falls below the capacitor voltage. Beyond point C, v c exceeds v i charging current stops flowing, and capacitor C is repeated for each cycle of the applied a.c. A heavy charging current flows in this short duration. Hence, the diode draws current, the capacitor charges quickly and voltage v c almost follows v i along the curve BC. Voltage v c (or v 0) decreases exponentially with a time constant C R L along with the curve AB as shown in figure 2.īeyond point B, v i exceeds v c. However, capacitor C discharges through load resistor RL and losses charge during the nonconducting period. input voltage and rectified and filtered output voltage V 0 During the positive half cycle, the capacitor charges almost in step with the applied voltage, and the voltage v c (=v 0) rises as shown in figure 2. ![]() Half-wave Rectifier with Capacitor Filterįigure 1 gives the circuit of a half-wave rectifier with a capacitor filter.įigure 2 shows the waveform of a.c. this ripple, component of current, therefore, gets bypassed through C and only dc component flows through the load resistor R L. The function of the capacitor filter may be viewed in terms of impedance to the ripple component of frequency f. Through this process, the time duration during which the current flows through the load resistor gets prolonged and the ripple component gets considerably reduced. it stores energy during the conducting period and delivers this energy to the load during the non-conducting period. Return to the top of basic transformation geometry. This is typically known as skewing or distorting the image. In a non-rigid transformation, the shape and size of the image are altered. You just learned about three rigid transformations: This type of transformation is often called coordinate geometry because of its connection back to the coordinate plane. Rotation 180° around the origin: T( x, y) = (- x, - y) In the example above, for a 180° rotation, the formula is: Some geometry lessons will connect back to algebra by describing the formula causing the translation. So these transformations serve as a helpful way to visualize what matrices are, since they mirror them so closely. All transformations that can be expressed as matrices are just combinations of these transformations. All of them can be expressed as matrices. That's what makes the rotation a rotation of 90°. What makes these types of transformations unique is that. Also all the colored lines form 90° angles. Notice that all of the colored lines are the same distance from the center or rotation than than are from the point. ![]() The figure shown at the right is a rotation of 90° rotated around the center of rotation. Also, rotations are done counterclockwise! You can rotate your object at any degree measure, but 90° and 180° are two of the most common. Reflection over line y = x: T( x, y) = ( y, x)Ī rotation is a transformation that is performed by "spinning" the object around a fixed point known as the center of rotation. Reflection over y-axis: T(x, y) = (- x, y) Reflection over x-axis: T( x, y) = ( x, - y) In other words, the line of reflection is directly in the middle of both points.Įxamples of transformation geometry in the coordinate plane. The line of reflection is equidistant from both red points, blue points, and green points. Notice the colored vertices for each of the triangles. Let's look at two very common reflections: a horizontal reflection and a vertical reflection. The transformation for this example would be T( x, y) = ( x+5, y+3).Ī reflection is a "flip" of an object over a line. More advanced transformation geometry is done on the coordinate plane. In this case, the rule is "5 to the right and 3 up." You can also translate a pre-image to the left, down, or any combination of two of the four directions. The formal definition of a translation is "every point of the pre-image is moved the same distance in the same direction to form the image." Take a look at the picture below for some clarification.Įach translation follows a rule. The most basic transformation is the translation. Translations - Each Point is Moved the Same Way Positive y translates upwards, negative y translates downwards. The original figure is called the pre-image the new (copied) picture is called the image of the transformation.Ī rigid transformation is one in which the pre-image and the image both have the exact same size and shape.Positive x translates to the right, negative x translates to the left. ![]() Always remember the translation is the final position minus the start position, and double check that the signs are consistent with the rules: If we compare the top points of the two triangles, we can see that the translation distance is 5.Ī second common mistake is to get the signs of the translation vector incorrect. This distance is 2.īut that distance isn't the translation distance, because we are not using the equivalent points on each shape. In this diagram, we have marked the distance from the rightmost point of A to the leftmost point of B. Which image is the translation of ABC given by the translation rule (x, y) -> (x - 2, y + 2) X to the left 2 units, Y up 2 units. Show the result of translating this shape:Ī common mistake is to use the gap between the shapes rather than the distance the shape has been translated: Terms in this set (15) Which of these transformations are isometries The diagrams are not drawn to scale. The shape is moved 4 units to the left and 5 units up, so the translation vector is:ĭescribe the single transformation that maps shape A onto shape B: The shape is moved 3 units to the right and 4 units up, so the translation vector is: This example shows a rectangle translated in the x and y directions: Rule: A positive y translation moves the shape upwards, and a negative y translation moves the shape downwards. ![]() ![]() 21 Martha then said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. 20 Martha therefore, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet Him, but Mary stayed at the house. 18 Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off 19 and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary, to console them concerning their brother. Reading further in John 11, we see how Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead: “17 So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days. ![]() The Lord has complete control over our lives, including even being able to raise us from the dead. ![]() We see something similar in John 9 when Jesus heals the blind man. Scripture says he was born blind that works of God may be displayed in him. In these examples (and others), we are made aware of God’s complete sovereignty over our lives. Jeremiah 18 describes Israel as clay in the potter’s (God’s) hands, which is echoed in Romans 9. 14 So Jesus then said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead, 15 and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe but let us go to him.” 16 Therefore Thomas, who is called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, so that we may die with Him.”Īs we read, Mary and Martha’s brother, Lazarus, became sick. His sickness was obviously quite serious, or else they would not have sent for Jesus to heal him. Jesus, who knows all things, clearly knew that Lazarus would die if He did not heal him. Jesus chose not to heal him for one clear reason: so that God and His Son would be glorified, and so that the disciples would believe in Him.Īlthough Lazarus was clearly killed by his sickness, the reason his sickness was not to “end in death” was because Jesus knew what He was going to do. It was God’s will that Lazarus would die from this sickness so that Jesus would raise him up from the grave. In so doing, God and His Son would be glorified, and the miracle would cause the disciples to believe in who Jesus was. 10 But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.” 11 This He said, and after that He said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep but I go, so that I may awaken him out of sleep.” 12 The disciples then said to Him, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.” 13 Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking of literal sleep. 7 Then after this He said to the disciples, “Let us go to Judea again.” 8 The disciples said to Him, “Rabbi, the Jews were just now seeking to stone You, and are You going there again?” 9 Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. ![]() 6 So when He heard that he was sick, He then stayed two days longer in the place where He was. 3 So the sisters sent word to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.” 4 But when Jesus heard this, He said, “This sickness is not to end in death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it.” 5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 2 It was the Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. ![]() Here is the entire passage from John 11 describing Lazarus' death: “1 Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. ![]() ![]() ![]() The Los Sapos Maya sweat bath reopened again 300 years later. These properties were among the many health benefits associated with heat and water that were identified by the indigenous people of ancient Mesoamerica. Whether saunas do actually help in the fight against disease is ‘hotly’ debated within the scientific community, but many believe the heat boosts the immune system and that saunas are a useful therapeutic treatment. What was the Maya wisdom regarding sweat baths? Well, according to an article in Spa Business, Risto Elomaa, president of the International Sauna Association (ISA), says “the body goes through a physiological state of hyper-arousal” in a sauna, and that the heat and moisture can help “alleviate psychological symptoms… helping people feel more in control of symptoms and allowing time for dedicated rest.” Archaeologists exploring an ancient Maya sweat bath in Guatemala say not only did this sacred chamber represent the goddess of creation, but it is the actual deity herself manifested on earth. ![]() ![]() ![]() Go to the top row of numbers and find the number 7(last digit of 17) then go to the left column of numbers and find the number 4(last digit of 14) find where these two numbers intersect on the grid and the name in that square wins the first quarter.
